Airbrush tanning and spray tanning

Airbrush tanning and spray tanning

Airbrush tanning and spray tanning are usually considered to be the same thing. This is essentially true, as they use exactly the same ingredient but they are actually quite different in terms of application. Spray tanning booth are usually automated units with finely tuned nozzles that emit a fine mist. The user follows a series of postures and while the machine sprays the body. This has some advantages such as privacy and ease of use but can lack convenience and precision. They also have a limited range of choice of tan colors or depths.  If you miss a pose, you might not get an even coating of tan in that area. Some prefer this method but others prefer a more personal and artistic method such as airbrush.

Airbrush tanning is the answer to that lack of precision and thoroughness as well as to the availability to a wide range of tan colors and depths. It can also be the answer to the inconvenience, as many salons that have trained airbrush tanning therapists will do home visits as it is very portable. This is because all a therapist needs to carry with them is the airbrush gun with a small air compressor and a foldable tent to protect the surroundings. Furthermore, a trained airbrush therapist can probably give you the perfect custom tan in one session rather than the two or three sessions needed in a spray tan booth. This is because the trained therapist can apply the tanning solution evenly and expertly over the whole body to ensure a perfect even tan.

There are, however, some drawbacks such as price and privacy. It is typically more expensive as it is a personal service and you are getting the advantage of expert-level skill, experience and advice. However when it comes to getting a beautiful even custom tan that suits your skin type airbrush tanning is certainly worth the extra price.

The other consideration is that you are going to have to strip of and stand naked or as good as in front of another person while they spray you from head to foot leaving no part of your body unexposed. You could wear an old bikini that you don’t mind getting ruined but the general consensus is that the best results by far are when the person is naked. This lack of privacy can put some people of airbrush tanning.

As spray tanning and airbrush tanning work in the same fashion in that has the same active ingredient, Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is used in almost all sunless tanning products, you will need to follow some pre-tanning session tips. DHA effectively lasts for 3-7 days as it works only on the skins outer layer of cells, which are constantly being shed. Therefore before a tanning session you should shave, wax and exfoliate the skin that day before the airbrush tanning session as this will result in a longer lasting, more even and radiant custom tan.
